What are some books that you'd recommend? I believe I've seen you mention "Rework" and you just mentioned "The Art of Looking Sideways." What other books might you suggest?

I am currently OBSESSED with Start With Why by Simon Sinek. It encapsulates everything I’ve always believed but couldn’t articulate into words. The premise is that WHY we do things is far more important than WHAT we do. When people and companies can clearly articulate their WHY, it provides them with a remarkable ability to innovate and inspire the masses. Apple, for example, is a company dedicated to challenging the status quo and thinking differently. Dell, on the other hand, makes computers. Apple talks about WHY they do things; Dell tells people WHAT they do.
What was particularly telling, for me, is the chapter on how the power of why is not opinion, it’s biology. I’ve been forever obsessed with decision-making and why we do the things we do, and I’m someone who trusts my gut and makes decisions based on what “feels right.” The part of the brain that controls our decision-making is called the limbic brain and it has no capacity for language. This is why it’s difficult to verbalize the real reasons why we make decisions. “It feels right,” “I’m following my heart” and “My boyfriend completes me” are all examples of how we might try to explain how we feel.
The whole book is awesome. I highly recommend it.
Another awesome book is “I Swear to Good You Are God at this” which my good friend Dave Brown independently published. It’s an awesome guide to creative inspiration. Check out this awesome video on the book.
